Getting a Sibling DNA Testing in India With Accurate & Results

With advancing DNA diagnostic technologies, getting a specialized DNA test has now become possible and easily accessible by people. DNA testing can help people not only establish biological links between their alleged relative(s) but can also help in certain areas, like that of immigration, research-based Cell Line Authentication, Ancestral origins, and more. Sibling DNA testing is one such application of a DNA test that can help a person in a number of ways.

Sibling DNA testing opens up the gates of opportunity for people who want to know their relationship with their alleged siblings.

The Sibling-ship DNA Test confirms whether the two siblings are from the same parents or different. As a result, Sibling DNA testing is often used as an alternative to paternity or maternity testing, serving as the means of establishing the biological relationship between two alleged siblings when the parents are not available to give their DNA samples. A Siblingship DNA Test ensures whether two siblings are half-siblings or full siblings.
  • Half-Sibling DNA Test: When one of the parents is a common biological parent of the siblings, but there is uncertainty about who is the actual parent, the half-sibling DNA testing is ideal.
  • Full Sibling DNA Test: A full sibling DNA test is ideal for siblings sharing the same biological parents.

Methodology

The first step in Sibling DNA testing is collecting the alleged siblings' samples using buccal swabs.

The epithelial cells collected on the swab are then broken in a laboratory to extract the DNA sample.

Breaking the long-strand DNA molecule into smaller ones for the sake of study. These short strands thus received are called 'Short tandem repeats' or STRs.

The STRs are then subjected to Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), to amplify the data of the STRs.

The genetic profiles thus received are then cross-matched to establish or deny the existence of a biological relationship between the two parties.

In the final step, the test report is then emailed to the registered email address.

In both types of Siblingship DNA tests, the DNA samples of the alleged siblings are mapped with those of the alleged father to determine their biological relationship with each other.

With the mother’s DNA sampling, experts can provide a definitive test report. If the mother’s sampling is not available, the tests require a rigorous and deeper analysis for an accurate test report. However, the unavailability of mother’s DNA sampling doesn’t affect the accuracy of Siblingship DNA test reports. For example, in a siblingship DNA test report, if the Siblingship Index shows less than 1.00, the alleged siblings are not biological brothers or sisters. But if it shows greater than 1.00, it means both are biologically related.

The calculation of genetic profiles is solely based on individual DNA analysis. However, Siblingship  DNA test is helpful for several purposes, including inheritance claims, Aadhar Card entries, or confirming the eligibility for specific government schemes, and more.
